Description :

F. A. Davis Company, 2014. — 350 p. — ISBN: 9780803629493Mathematical calculations are important even in the increasingly automated medical laboratory. Instrument software, computers and calculators facilitate accurate and efficient computations, however, a strong basic knowledge of math is still required for the medical laboratory professional. For this reason, laboratory mathematics is taught in our program and in many other MLS and MLT programs. Students come to these programs with varied levels of math proficiency. Even for those students with good math ability, review is beneficial.
This work is intended as a basic treatment of laboratory math skills directed toward the current practice in the medical laboratory. This book was written to fulfill the requirement for a basic math book for students studying medical technology. As professionals, these students will be required to perform labo- ratory procedures that include a variety of mathematical skills. For this reason, the problems in the book are designed to encourage students to apply math concepts in the context of medical laboratory practice. Electronic case studies available on the F.A. Davis DavisPlus website provide additional practice in applying math concepts to students.

To support faculty in developing courses in laboratory mathematics, Power Point presentations, an Electronic Bank of Test Questions, and an Instructor’s Guide accompany this textbook.
